Thanks for reading! The 'purple' visualisations are interesting. They appear to provide a more balanced view where else the strict red and blue maps make the country more polarised than it actually is.

You're right in saying that the purple version has accessibility issues. It's also still based on geography, so some votes appear bigger than others; for example, Texas VS New York.
